We are so very honored to play host to the INAUGURAL Jazz Festival Pro-Jam!!! It’s this Sunday (11/16) from 6:00-9:00 pm. There will be FREE ADMISSION, and donations will be accepted at the door for WSU Friends of Jazz! This event features festival guest artist and bassist Gerald Stockton, Dave Hagedorn – vibraphonist and director of jazz studies at St. Olaf College, Brad Dutz – hand percussionist from Los Angeles, Chris Wabich – steel drum and drumset player from Los Angeles, Rich MacDonald – drumset… and members of the WSU Faculty Jazz Ensemble.
For 4 years now, the WSU student and faculty jazz group has been playing once a month while university is in session. Rich and Co. have treated us to amazing performances with a lineup of students that changes each year, many of which we have later seen perform in other acts at the pub. Their monthly sessions at Ed’s provides a unique educational experience to the students, allowing them to gig at a club and share the stage with their mentors as peers. I think all who have been in attendance would agree that these performances have been truly magical, and some of the best live jazz one can see anywhere. Sundays performance features an all star line up that will knock your socks off. Remember it’s an early show. Stop down and heat up on a chilly weekend!
This event is part of the Eleventh Annual Honor Jazz Band Festival Nov 14-16, 2014.
